Here's another way to help earn money for the Band. If you are in need of gift wrap, why not order online from Sally Foster, which is affiliated with the same company that does our entertainment book sales, and a portion of the sale will go to the GIMA Boosters to help pay for this season's activities. E-Scrip Recycling Bring your used ink cartridges & old cell phones for recycling. Just deposit them in the cardboard box (next to the gray box) in the Band Room. The Blitz for selling Entertainment Books will be on August 28, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and will start right after fitting day at the Band Room. - Parents, please help by driving students to various sales areas. Books will also be available for pick up on the 28th too. The absolute deadline to turn in either the unsold Entertainment Books or the money earned from selling books is October 1. Click here for Entertainment Book Sales information and form Parents will be required to be liable for the books taken to sell. Student accounts will be charged for lost or stolen books. These popular books are an easy sell. You can remind people the coupons are not only for 2 for 1 dinners or fast food meals, but also for things like groceries, movies, theater tickets, travel, boat rides, museums, bookstores and a variety of other services and venues. They offer a terrific value for the price. Large books will sell for $40 and the small books for $20. The more books you sell the more handsome your profit will be. Address list due by September 24. 2010 Click here for Rehearse-a-Thon Address List Form All Marching Band Students participate in the all-day practice on Saturday, October 9, called the Rehearse-A-Thon. It's the easiest Fundraiser all year! Be sure to sign up! Each year we conduct a Rehearse-a-Thon to raise funds to pay for competition entry fees, Music Clinicians, transportation and other equipment that is necessary for our competitions and performances. These funds are necessary because the high school district does not pay most of the expenses that are incurred. The Rehearse-a-Thon will take place on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 to 5:00. We will practice our field show the entire day as we try to perfect it for the first competition. At the end of the day, in addition to a pot luck and BBQ, we will perform the complete show for our family and friends to show them how much we have accomplished. Mr. Way thinks that we will be able to accomplish in one day what would normally require one to two weeks of practice. We send letters to family and friends and ask for a donation to help support the Royal Blue Regiment. A sample letter is available for you to see. The first part is to gather and turn in to the gray box a list of names and addresses for people to whom you want to send letters. Turn this in by September 24, 2010, so we can address the envelopes. Please provide two stamps for each address turned in.
The Rehearse-a-Thon will take place on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 to 4:30. We will practice our field show the entire day as we try to perfect it for the first competition. At 4:30, the students will perform the debut of their Field Show, on the football field. Mr. Bovie thinks that we will be able to accomplish in one day what would normally require one to two weeks of practice. The "after Rehearse-A-Thon pot luck party" will be immediately following the performance. Please bring the following: Main Dish: Leadership and Juniors; Side Dish: Remaining Seniors and Sophomores; and Dessert: Freshmen. Even if parents are not planning to attend, students are still asked to bring their assigned dish. Xmas Wreaths Christmas Wreath sales information will be available in plenty of time before Christmas. Stay tuned for information on this great fundraiser.
